Cllr Neelam Sekhon - Chair
neelamsekhon@burnastonparish.gov.uk
I was elected to Burnaston Parish Council in February 2026 and have lived in the parish for a number of years. I spent my formative years growing up in Derby and am proud to call Burnaston home.
I qualified as a solicitor in 2006 and have spent much of my time since raising my two boys. I have a genuine interest in keeping up to date with important local issues and concerns and am passionate about community engagement. I am committed to ensuring that residents across Burnaston parish feel informed, heard and well represented.

Cllr Fran Smith - Vice Chair

I have lived in Burnaston since 2010. I have worked as a Procurement Officer in both the Construction and IT sectors and now run our holiday cottage in the village. I have two young children and was co-opted to Burnaston Parish Council in October 2020.

Cllr Sally Price
sallyprice@burnastonparish.gov.uk
I have lived in Burnaston with my family since 2013. Although I’m new to being a parish councillor, I hope that my career in Human Resources will bring some useful skills to the group. Our children have loved growing up exploring the fields and footpaths that surround us and they really feel like this is our little piece of countryside and I would like to help support the parish to make sound, fair and practical decisions for the benefit of the whole community.
Working full time and being a mum of two doesn’t leave much time for hobbies, but when I’m not being a taxi driver to various sports and hobbies, I enjoy cooking and continuing to make improvements to our home.

Cllr Julian Fowkes

I have lived in Mickleover most of my life and the last 23 years at Mickleover Country Park. I decided to join Burnaston Parish Council, so MCP had representation and to promote and maintain the values of the estate.
I have been on the council since November 2023.
I am a Design Engineer with Rolls-Royce, married with two grown children. I am a keen runner and enjoy a round of golf at the wonderful Pastures Golf Club.

Cllr Carl Bailey
Carlbailey@burnastonparish.gov.uk
Carl has lived in South Derbyshire with his family for almost 20 years and is proud to call Burnaston Parish home.

Originally trained as a Mechanical Engineer, Carl has spent much of his career building and running successful businesses. Over the years he has worked as a company director and entrepreneur, managing a diverse range of projects, including property development, residential lettings and holiday accommodation.
Now semi-retired, Carl enjoys being able to devote more of his time to local community matters and was pleased to be elected to Burnaston Parish Council. He hopes to use his practical experience, project management skills and common-sense approach to support the Council in representing the interests of residents across the parish.

Outside of council life, Carl enjoys keeping active, with interests in sport and fitness, walking his dogs and, above all, spending time with his large extended family and four grandchildren.
