This website aims to meet the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) version 2.2 AA standard.
Compliance status
This website is partially compliant with the WCAG 2.2 AA standard.
The council-controlled website content is largely compliant, with no critical accessibility errors identified during testing. Some minor issues exist in third-party-hosted plugins, which is outside our control.

Accessibility observation
A contrast warning was identified across all tested pages relating to a “skip to content” link.
-
This element is visually hidden by default
-
It becomes visible when accessed via keyboard navigation (e.g. using the TAB key)
-
It is fully functional and supports accessibility best practice
This behaviour is intentional and does not present a barrier to users.
Non-accessible content
Third-party hosted files (Wix Share folder)
Some accessibility alerts relate to files hosted via a Wix Share folder. These include:
-
Suspicious alternative text (1 instance)
-
Very small text (multiple instances, visually hidden elements)
-
Underlined text not presented as a link (1 instance)
-
Redundant title text (1 instance)
These files are:
-
Not developed by Burnaston Parish Council
-

Impact
These issues are minor (WAVE alerts, not errors) and are unlikely to present significant barriers to users.
What we are doing
-
We have reviewed these issues and confirmed that they originate from third-party content
-
We are unable to directly modify content within the Wix platform
-
Where possible, we will:
-
Provide accessible alternatives on request

Review options to replace third-party files with accessible formats
-

The following content is exempt from the accessibility regulations:

Third-party content not funded, developed, or controlled by Burnaston Parish Council (including Wix-hosted files)
